It's A Family Affair - 7th May, 2011
The roof was well and truly raised at the Church Rooms last Saturday. Forget Jongleurs Comedy Club in Camden Town and step up the Creative Cows of Chipping Campden.
The Creative Cows (otherwise known as Vanessa Rigg and Keyna Doran) put on a night of comedy that will live long in the memory of everyone there. To a sold out audience (well-fortified by a bar provided by the Eight Bells), that inimitable Spinster of the Parish, Keyna Doran, compered a fabulously funny line-up. First up was a plucky Kelly Smith. She delighted the crowd with her Pam Ayres renditions and observations on the tidiness (or not) of her home and kids. Read full review
The Big Stand Up Night - 2nd July, 2011
For those of more delicate sensibilities, Chipping Campden’s Comedy Club may not a suitable night out, but for the more un-p.c. who want a rollicking good laugh, then they need look no further. From its beginnings last year as a venue for local comedy, Campden is fast becoming the hottest new club on the circuit. Whilst some may have been initially disappointed that Campden’s redoubtable acid-tongued wit Keyna Doran was not compering, any reservations were quickly laid to rest by Londoner Kevin Shepherd who throughout the evening seamlessly and hilariously hosted a fantastic line-up of comedians from far and wide. The Big Stand Up Night – 12th November, 2011
A new comedy club is putting Chipping Campden on the map and due to its incredible success – every night in 2011 has been a sell-out – I am happy to say that it is going to be held monthly throughout 2012. Creative Cows (otherwise known as Vanessa Rigg and Keyna Doran) have pulled off the seemingly impossible, enticing dozens of new and established stand-up acts from their more natural habitats to the comedy club in a transformed Church Rooms. Saturday night saw the last acts of a bumper 2011, and they did not disappoint. The bar (kept very busy by an audience thirsty from so much laughter) was again courtesy of Neil and Julie at the Eight Bells.
Londoner Jack Samuel Warner (you can lead a unicorn to water but you can’t make it exist) returned, this time as the consummate compere, brilliantly linking seven hilarious and diverse acts. A lively and vocal crowd may not have been easy to control, but he managed it with skill and humour. Read Full Review
The Big Stand Up Night - 21st January, 2012
The Creative Cows Comedy Club was one of the great success stories for Campden in 2011, and the signs are it’s going to go from strength to strength in 2012. After several sold out nights in the Church Rooms, the venue was moved in January to try and meet the growing demand for tickets. The result was a full house in Chipping Campden School Hall, transformed into a club for the evening with low lighting, cabaret tables and a bar run by the Eight Bells. Keyna Doran (one Creative Cow) kicked off the proceedings with... Read Full Review
